TENI are thrilled to announce that Daire Dempsey will be our new Executive Director.

Daire has been a vital member of the TENI team since 2022. They began their career as Education Officer, and quickly progressed to become our Research and Policy Officer. Daire has been instrumental in all policy and research work from TENI since they joined. 

For the last 12 months while TENI was without an Executive Director, Daire stepped into a managerial role as our Research and Strategy Manager. Their leadership during this period has been crucial to the success of the organisation. Our board chair, Caoimhe O’Brien, offered these words on behalf of the board: “We on the board are thrilled to have Daire as TENI’s new Executive Director. I know they are going to be pivotal in establishing TENI as a charity and improving both our reach and impact with the trans community in Ireland. I’m really excited to see how the organisation develops under their leadership.”

Daire has this to say about their appointment: “I’m delighted to be appointed the Executive Director of TENI. I’m immensely proud of TENI and our team here, the work we do to create safe and supportive spaces, to push for systemic change, and to bring people on the journey with us.

I’ve seen firsthand the impact of that work on the trans young people, adults, and families coming to TENI for support, on the teachers, healthcare providers, youth workers, sports coaches (and many more) coming to TENI for guidance, and it’s been an honour to be part of the team making that difference. 

I’m excited to step into this role, to help bring TENI into our next chapter, and to work together towards equality, justice and liberation for our communities across Ireland.”
