Gender Recognition Video - Participants Needed

TENI is looking for participants to take part in a gender recognition campaign video. The goal of the video is to help mainstream society understand what gender recognition means and why it's so important to trans/intersex people.

Press Release: Despite Rise in Positive Visibility, Trans People Still Face High Levels of Violence

Today (20th November) is Trans Day of Remembrance. This is an international day of commemoration that memoralises the lives lost in the course of the year due to transphobia and it also raises awareness of the violence trans people can face simply because they are trans. The Trans Day of Remembrance began in 1998 in the United States in response to the murder of Rita Hester, a trans woman.

Labour Youth Motion on Gender Recognition

At the 2014 Labour Youth Conference, a motion was passed calling for Ireland's gender recognition legislation to be based on the declaration model, as seen in Argentina. This would require applicants seeking to change their legally-recognised gender only to declare their identified gender, making it a matter of personal autonomy rather than a medical decision.

PRESS RELEASE: TENI Welcomes News of Settlement in Lydia Foy Case

Today (28th October), Lydia Foy reached a settlement in her 21 year legal battle against the State to have her female gender recognised. Settlement was reached after the State declared a 'firm intention' to enact gender recognition legislation in 2015.
