Read the Trans Youth Forum Report Now
Yesterday we launched "It's Time to Hear Our Voices": National Trans Youth Forum report to mark the International Trans Day of Visibility.
This was a moment to shine the spotlight on trans young people's experiences in Ireland. We know that young trans people struggle in their daily lives - at home, in school and at work. Trans young people face barriers in the healthcare system and lack formal legal recognition. But we also know that when they are supported, they thrive. This is why family support groups like TransParenCI are crucial to promoting mental health and wellbeing.
At TENI we believe it is important that we highlight the experiences of trans young people and really listen to what they are telling us. You can read the report here.
TENI will continue to actively campaign to ensure that trans young people are protected and that their rights are enshrined. We will keep working in schools, continue training healthcare professionals and vigorously advocate for inclusive gender recognition legislation.
We want to thank everyone who took part in the Forum, particularly the Trans Youth Organising Committee and to all the young people who were involved in this initiative. Special thanks must go to Peter Dunne and Cearbhall Turraoin as the authors of this report. Thank you to Trinity Equality Fund and ILGA-Europe for their generous support.
If you want to find out more about what we do you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
