Trans Visibility Matters: Vanessa and Sam on The Saturday Night Show
On Saturday 21st March, TENI Health and Education Manager Vanessa Lacey and TENI Board member Sam Blanckensee appeared on The Saturday Night Show on RTÉ One.

Vanessa and Sam were interviewed by Brendan O'Connor who asked about their experiences of being trans in Ireland. The segment focused on Vanessa and Sam's individual journeys to becoming their true selves. Speaking with humour and honesty, they shared how they first realised they were trans, the impact their identity had on their families, the transition process and the need for legal gender recognition. Sam's father, Simon Blanckensee, spoke and shared the family perspective.
The segment can be streamed here.
The Saturday Night Show boasts a high viewership and reaches all corners of Ireland. This was a unique opportunity to raise awareness of trans experiences and promote positive visibility. TENI would like to thank Vanessa, Sam and Simon for sharing their stories. We would also like to thank Brendan O'Connor and The Saturday Night Show production team, specifically researchers' Ian Byrne and Danielle Farrelly, for providing such an important platform and dealing with this topic sensitively.
